* Show students the different media where expository is employed.
* Introduce parts of an expository essay and what they contain.
* Analogies: gourmet dinner :introduction-appetizer; body- main course; conclusion- dessert
* Brainstorming a topic
THURSDAY, October 13

* Magnifying: narrowing down a topic
* Telescoping: staying on topic
*If time allows, show the expository structure of an essay-the expository house
- roof: introduction with attention grabbers and the controlling idea
- body: body paragraphs with their points and supports (explanation, examples from history, entertainment,literature, personal experience)
- floor: conclusion with insight,rephrasing,summary, abstract-concrete extension
