7th Grade Writing

Second Week

August 31-September 4, 2015

Monday:

* We will-

a.review the parts of speech and their definitions,

b. play the Battle of the Parts of Speech,

c.continue with the natural and inverted order of sentences in simple sentences through examples,

d.reintroduce the four kinds of sentences (declarative, interrogative, imperative, exclamatory) for sentence variety,

e. do a diagram of the simple sentence.

Tuesday:

* We will-

a. have binder inspection

b. re-introduce the COMPOUND SENTENCE and its components,

c. identify the COORDINATING CONJUNCTIONS for, and, nor, but, or, yet, so (FANBOYS)

with a song.

Wednesday:

* We will-

a. review the compound sentence with examples,

b. touch on the WRITING PROCESS and the steps.

Thursday:

* We will-

a. play the Battle of the Process

b. explain the nature of the writing process (recursive)

Friday

* We will-

a. learn what is magnifying ( choosing a specific topic),

b. learn what is telescoping (staying on topic).

Monday through Friday

* We will

a. write a biographical event

b. go through the process from brainstorming to final drafting

c. decorate the story

d. present to class.
